MASTERTON | KITCHEN

Modern Farmhouse

The clients brief was to create a farmhouse inspired kitchen that still sat comfortably within a house built in the 70’s.

A wall separated the original kitchen from the dining room making the user feel isolated from the rest of the house. The existing floorpan was a collection of doorways, pantries and alcoves making the whole space cluttered and disjointed. By removing the wall and simplifying the layout we were able to create a cohesive design that connected through to the dining room and lounge beyond.

The addition of a butlers pantry created ample storage and moved the small appliances out of sight. A servery was added in the dining room which provides space for making tea and coffee as well as a serving area for dinner parties.

A bespoke butchers block was built, sitting on casters allowing it to be moved around the space as required. The colour palette was pulled from the luxuriously textured Zurbaran Aquamarina tiles and the existing flooring. Soft blue greens, grey and white provide a calming space and the use of v-groove board and barn doors are a nod to the inspiration of the farmhouse kitchen.
